# Tracing Module Release Notes

Tracing module enables you to enhance your logs by adding, removing, and clearing all variables from the logging context for a given Mule event. It also enables you to modify the correlation ID during flow execution and add custom attributes to a transaction’s root span.

### What’s New

- The new Add Root Span Attributes operation (`<tracing:add-root-span-attributes>`) adds custom attributes to the root span of the current transaction. This operation requires Mule runtime 4.13 or later and has no effect on earlier runtime versions.
