# Download and Install Anypoint Studio (macOS)

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Download Anypoint Studio and install it on macOS by moving the extracted package to your
Applications directory and opening it in a new or existing workspace.

1. Download the Anypoint Studio installation file from the
    [Download Site](https://www.mulesoft.com/lp/dl/anypoint-mule-studio).

2. Extract the Anypoint Studio package and move it to your `/Applications` directory.

3. Open the extracted Anypoint Studio.

    1. It is possible that Gatekeeper flags Studio as an unsafe application:

![You may see an error message that says Apple can’t check the file for malicious software and it won’t open](/mulesoft/current/en-us/studio/_images/studio-blocked-gatekeeper.png)

    2. To open Studio, navigate to **System Preferences** > **Security and Privacy** and in the
        **General** tab select **Open Anyway**:

4. Click OK to accept the default workspace.

    - You must Use an absolute path when defining your workspace because Anypoint Studio does not
expand the `~` tilde used in Unix and Linux systems.

      - If you choose to use an existing workspace, the workspace must be created with Studio 7.0 or
        later.
