# Configure Anypoint Studio to Use Your Own JDK (macOS)

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Point Anypoint Studio on macOS to your own JDK by adding the `-vm` option to the
`AnypointStudio.ini` file. Studio then starts with the JDK installation that you specify instead of
its bundled JDK.

1. Go to your `/Applications` folder, right click the `AnypointStudio` package and select **Show
    Package Contents**.

2.  Go to `Contents` > `Eclipse`, and open the `AnypointStudio.ini` file.

3. Add the -vm option to point to your specific JDK installation path.

    ```text
    -vm
    /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-11.0.11+9/Contents/Home/bin/java
    ```

    - The `-vm` option and the installation path must be on separate lines.

    - The value must be the full absolute or relative path to the Java executable, not just to the
      Java home directory.

    - The `-vm` option must occur after the other Studio-specific options (such as `-product`,
      `--launcher.*`, and so on), but before the `-vmargs` option.
