## Outbound Variables

## Wizard

Use _Select Web Element_ to select an element inside a list or drop-down menu in a website or web
application.

If the element you want to select has an underlying hyperlink, use _Click Element_ instead.

When you use the _Browser Wizard_ to select the drop-down menu that contains the element to use, all
current options display in the **Available Options** field. After selecting an option, you can
choose the method to identify it:

- **Value**: The standard selection. On an average website, this is usually the value that changes
  the least.

- **Text**: The text that shows in the picklist. Product names or similar values are easy to select
  in text form.

- **Index**: The index might be imprecise, particularly on dynamic websites. Use **Index** only if
the selected element is of secondary importance.

When using Internet Explorer, selecting an option by index takes longer than with other browsers.

You can use Pin variables to specify the value for the selection method.
