# MCP Support

The MCP Support policy adds MCP support to an Omni Gateway MCP server instance. This policy is
required for your MCP server instance to function properly.

## August 12, 2026

### What’s New

- MCP Support policy definition and implementation version 1.1.1 is now supported by Omni Gateway.

- Added the **Inject MCP Element Headers** parameter, which injects the MCP primitive as request
  headers for downstream policy use. The policy sets `x-ms-mcp-element-id` to the identifier and
  `x-ms-mcp-element-type` to the kind (`tool`, `prompt`, or `resource`).
