Anypoint Connector for Azure Service Bus (Azure Service Bus Connector) makes it easy to build
integrations that send messages to and receive messages from Azure Service Bus, which is an
asynchronous messaging cloud platform. This connector supports communication with queues and topics
and can perform actions such as:

- Send to queue

- Send to topic

- Receive from queue

- Receive from subscription

## 3.8.0

**August 19, 2026**

### What’s New

- The **Message Listener** source now supports the new **Enable Dynamic Sessions** field. Enable
this field to process session-enabled entities whose session IDs are generated dynamically and not
known in advance. Instead of locking a fixed **Message Session Id**, each consumer continuously
accepts the next available Service Bus session, drains it, and rolls to the next one. The **Number
Of Consumers** field controls how many sessions are processed concurrently. This field can’t be
combined with a fixed **Message Session Id** or with **Consume From Dead Letter Queue**. For more
  information, refer to
  [Message Listener](https://docs.mulesoft.com/microsoft-azure-sb-connector/latest/azure-service-bus-connector-reference#message-listener)
  and see the
[Receive Messages from Dynamically Generated Sessions](https://docs.mulesoft.com/microsoft-azure-sb-connector/latest/azure-service-bus-connector-examples#dynamic-sessions)
  example.

- The **Message Listener** source now supports the new **Session Idle Timeout** field, which applies
only when **Enable Dynamic Sessions** is enabled. Use this field to specify the maximum time a
consumer waits for the next message within the currently locked session before treating the
session as idle, releasing it, and rolling to the next available session. Configure this duration
using an ISO-8601 string. The default value (`PT30S`) preserves existing behavior. For more
  information, refer to
  [Message Listener](https://docs.mulesoft.com/microsoft-azure-sb-connector/latest/azure-service-bus-connector-reference#message-listener).

### Compatibility

## 3.7.0

**July 8, 2026**

### What’s New

- The **Message Listener** source now includes the new **Max Auto Lock Renew Duration** field to
specify how long the SDK automatically renews message locks during processing. You can configure
this duration using an ISO-8601 string, replacing the previous fixed 5-minute limit. The default
value (`PT5M`) preserves existing behavior. Additionally, the connector logs a structured warning
if a message lock expires before settlement and warns at startup if the configured duration is
shorter than the broker entity’s broker-side lock duration.

- The **Message Listener** source now supports the new **Consume From Dead Letter Queue** field.
Enable this field to consume messages directly from a queue’s or subscription’s native dead-letter
sub-queue (`$deadletterqueue`), without manually constructing the sub-queue path.

- The connector now includes a new **Dead Letter** operation. Use this operation to send a locked
message to its entity’s native dead-letter sub-queue, with an optional reason, description, and
  custom properties.

- The output attributes for received messages now include the new **Dead Letter Reason** and **Dead
Letter Error Description** fields, which are populated when consuming messages from a dead-letter
  sub-queue.

## 3.6.1

**March 18, 2026**

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Application/Service</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p><strong>Mule</strong></p></td><td><div><div><p>4.3.0 and later</p></div></div></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Azure Service Bus Java SDK</strong></p></td><td><div><div><p>7.17.16</p></div></div></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Microsoft Authentication Library for Java</strong></p></td><td><div><div><p>1.16.2</p></div></div></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>OpenJDK</strong></p></td><td><div><div><p>8, 11, and 17</p></div></div></td></tr></tbody></table>

### Fixed Issues

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Issue Resolution</th><th>ID</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><div><div><p>The connector now correctly honors the configured connection retry strategy for the <strong>Message Listener</strong> source. Previously, certain connection failures caused the receiver to stop without attempting to re-establish a connection.</p></div></div></td><td><div><div><p>W-21289737</p></div></div></td></tr><tr><td><div><div><p>The connector with the <strong>Azure Active Directory</strong> connection type now correctly validates connections for service principals that have only Send or Listen permissions and don’t have management-plane access. Previously, connection validation failed with the <code>MULE:CONNECTIVITY</code> error even though the credentials were valid and the principal could successfully send and receive messages.</p></div></div></td><td><div><div><p>W-21379356</p></div></div></td></tr></tbody></table>

## 3.6.0

**January 9, 2026**

### What’s New

- The connector now uses the `azure-identity` library for authentication, replacing manual token
handling. This provides built-in token caching and automatic refresh.

- The **Message Listener** source now supports the new **Enable Auto Lock Renewal** field. Use this
field to specify whether the source should automatically renew message locks, preventing lock
  expiration during long-running message processing.

- The connector now uses the built-in Azure Service Bus exponential backoff mode for its retry
behavior. This replaces custom retry logic with a standardized approach that automatically
increases wait times between attempts, providing better connection stability during service
  interruptions or high-load periods.

- The **Minimum Retry Backoff** field for the **Shared Access Signature** and **Azure Active
Directory** connection types is now set to a default of 1 second. This must be a positive integer
and setting it to zero results in ineffective retry behavior.

- The **Increased Wait On Server Busy** and **Increased Wait On Server Busy Time Unit** fields are
deprecated and no longer supported for **Shared Access Signature** and **Azure Active Directory**
connection types. These behaviors are now fully managed by the Azure Service Bus Java SDK.

- The new Azure Service Bus Java SDK v7.17.16 produces more detailed background logs. To keep your
application logs clean, add `<AsyncLogger name="com.azure.core.amqp" level="ERROR"/>` to your
`log4j2.xml` configuration to suppress excessive AMQP debug information.

## 3.5.0

**September 7, 2025**

### What’s New

- Azure Service Bus Connector now supports session-aware queues. This feature adds the **Message
Session Id** field to the **Message Listener** source, and renames the **Session Id** field to
**Message Session Id** in the **Send** operation. For an example about how to use this feature,
  see
[Send and Receive Messages Using Session IDs for Session-Aware Queues Example](https://docs.mulesoft.com/microsoft-azure-sb-connector/latest/azure-service-bus-connector-examples#send-receive-session-ids).
