Anypoint Connector for Anypoint MQ (Anypoint MQ Connector) enables you to add messaging access to
Anypoint MQ queues and exchanges from Anypoint Studio applications.

Anypoint MQ Connector versions 4.x, 3.x, and 2.x work only with Mule 4.x and Studio 7.x.

> [!NOTE] Anypoint MQ Connector version 3.x receives updates for bug fixes and security patches
> only. For the latest features and enhancements, upgrade your connector to the latest 4.x version.

Guide: [Anypoint MQ Connector User Guide](https://docs.mulesoft.com/anypoint-mq-connector/latest/)

## 4.0.23

**August 26, 2026**

### What’s New

- The Anypoint MQ subscriber now recovers automatically from a broker connectivity loss. Previously,
  if connectivity dropped during message acknowledgement, the subscriber could stop consuming and
  remain stopped until the Mule application was restarted. The subscriber now implements the
  runtime’s reconnection contract and re-establishes its connection per the configured reconnection
  strategy, resuming consumption without manual intervention.

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Software</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Mule</p></td><td><p>4.1.0 and later</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>OpenJDK</p></td><td><p>8, 11, and 17</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

## 4.0.22

**August 17, 2026**

### What’s New

- The internal Anypoint MQ REST client is upgraded to a build that declares its Apache-2.0 license
  in the artifact POM. Earlier builds published without a license declaration, which caused some
  dependency scanners (for example, JFrog Xray) to quarantine the artifact as unknown license. There
  is no functional or behavioral change to the connector.

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Software</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Mule</p></td><td><p>4.1.0 and later</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>OpenJDK</p></td><td><p>8, 11, and 17</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

## 4.0.21

**July 21, 2026**

### What’s New

- The internal Anypoint MQ REST client is upgraded to a spring-core-free build to address reported
  security vulnerabilities (CVE-2025-41249 and CVE-2024-38816). Retry and backoff behavior is
  unchanged.

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Software</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Mule</p></td><td><p>4.1.0 and later</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>OpenJDK</p></td><td><p>8, 11, and 17</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

## 4.0.20

**July 8, 2026**

### What’s New

- The polling strategy for the Subscriber source now supports backpressure, which paces message
  retrieval to match your flow’s processing capacity. When enabled, the Subscriber source fetches
  new messages only when capacity is available and releases capacity when a message finishes
  processing. Backpressure is opt-in and disabled by default. To enable it, set the
  `anypoint.mq.subscriber.backpressure.enabled` system property to `true`. For more information, see
  [Backpressure and Max Concurrency](https://docs.mulesoft.com/anypoint-mq-connector/latest/anypoint-mq-listener#backpressure-and-max-concurrency).

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Software</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Mule</p></td><td><p>4.1.0 and later</p></td></tr><tr><td><p>OpenJDK</p></td><td><p>8, 11, and 17</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

## 2.0.4

**September 19, 2018**

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Software</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Mule</p></td><td><p>4.0.0 and later</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

### New Features

This release of Anypoint MQ Connector implements retry logic with exponential backoff.

### Fixed Issues

- Improves logger precision to avoid issues during transaction tracing.

- Allows Subscriber prefetch to be disabled for predictability on API calls (see Known Issues).

### Known Issues

Using prefetch can result in the loss of predictability of API calls. If prefetch is used, Anypoint
MQ Connector aggressively tries to fetch messages, which results in increased API calls. If
predictability and control on API requests is important, use the following steps to disable prefetch
and strictly follow the polling time.

> [!IMPORTANT] Only disable prefetch if predictability on API calls is more important than
> performance. Maximum possible performance is only available when prefetch is enabled.

To disable prefetch:

1. Access a new or existing connector configuration of the MQ Subscriber component.

2. Navigate to the Prefetch tab.

3. Specify a Fetch size of 0. This disables prefetch.

4. In the Studio General tab, specify a **Polling time** in milliseconds.

    This time interval is strictly adhered to when making API calls. Polling time defaults to 10
    seconds if an explicit configuration is not present.

    If there are no messages in the queue, each poll that a subscriber makes waits for the duration
    of exactly half of the **Polling time** specified in the General tab. Polling time has a maximum
    value of 20000 milliseconds.

**Note:** Versions 2.0.2 - 2.0.3 were internal releases only without changes to the user interface
or product usage.

## 2.0.0

**November 17, 2017**

### New Features

Anypoint MQ Connector adds support for Mule4 and Anypoint Studio 7.

### Compatibility

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Software</th><th>Version</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Mule</p></td><td><p>4.0.0 and later</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

### Known Issues

- Anypoint MQ Connector doesn’t support tracking.

  Example with tracking:

  ```xml
  <flow name="customers-all-get" tracking:enable-default-events="true">
    <anypoint-mq:subscriber config-ref="Anypoint_MQ_Configuration"
    destination="testQueue" acknowledgementMode="AUTO"/>
    <tracking:transaction id="customers-all-get"/>
  </flow>
  ```

  Example without tracking:

  ```xml
  <flow name="customers-all-get">
    <anypoint-mq:subscriber config-ref="Anypoint_MQ_Configuration"
    destination="testQueue" acknowledgementMode="AUTO"/>
  </flow>
  ```
