# Adding and Versioning Translation Maps

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Translation maps are used to transform messages between different formats. You can add maps to the
Maps page and version them to apply changes across your deployed message flows.

> [!NOTE] You can apply mapping changes across deployed message flows by setting new versions as
> active without needing to upload the updated file to each message flow and redeploy. See
> [Select the Map for a Partner Manager Message Flow](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/partner-manager-maps#change-map) for more
> information.

## Add a Map

To add a map:

1. From the Partner Manager sidebar, select **Maps**.

2. Click **New Map** and select **Send to partner** or **Receive from partner**.

3. Enter a unique name for the map and click **Save**. This adds the map to the **Maps** page
    without any configuration.

4. On the map details page, select the message types. For more information about message types, see
    [Create Inbound Message Flows](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/create-inbound-message-flow) or
    [Create Outbound Message Flows](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/create-outbound-message-flow).

5. In the **Map** section, click **Import** and select the `.dwl` file to import.

6. Assign a unique version label and optionally add a note.

7. Enter a description by clicking the pencil icon next to the **Description** field.

8. Click **Save**.

## Add a New Map Version

Adding a new version of a map is a quick way to apply map changes across your deployed message flows
or runtime applications without needing to redeploy individual message flows. Up to 10 versions of a
map can be stored per mapping configuration.

To import a new version of a map:

1. From the Partner Manager sidebar, select **Maps**. If you don’t have the **Maps** tab, update
your Partner Manager applications to the latest runtime templates from version 2.25.0 or later.

2. Click the name of the map to open the details page.

3. Click **Select** in the **Map** section.

4. Click **Import new file** in the **Select a Map File** window.

5. Navigate to the `.dwl` file you want to import and click **Open** to add the new version of the
    map.

6. To replace the currently active map, select the radio button next to the version that you just
    uploaded.

7. Click **Set as Active**.

8. Click **Confirm**.

## Delete a Map

To delete a map:

1. From the Partner Manager sidebar, select **Maps**.

2. Click the name of the map to open the details page.

3. Click **Delete**.

> [!NOTE] Only inactive versions of a map can be deleted. To avoid disruption to existing message
> flows, the current active version can’t be deleted.

## View Message Flows for a Map

To view the message flows that use a particular map, click the number in the **Message flows**
column for the map. This opens a message flow details window that shows the message flow name and
deployment status.
