# Creating Third-Party Connections

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Create a new third-party connection by using the **Partners** page to specify the connection’s name,
identifiers, connection-specific endpoints (if needed), and other settings.

Before you create your first third-party connection, make sure that you have
[configured your payload storage API](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/setup-payload-storage-api) and that you obtain the following
information:

- The connection name (usually the name of the company)

- One or more AS2 identifiers for the connection

To create a third-party connection:

1. In Partner Manager, select **Partners** in the sidebar.

2. Click **Create partner > 3rd party connection**.

3. Enter the following information:

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Setting</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p><strong>Name</strong></p></td><td><p>Text string that uniquely identifies the connection</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Type</strong></p></td><td><p>Identifier type</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Identifier Value</strong></p></td><td><p>Either a value that uniquely identifies the connection within the EDI stream or the AS2 identifier (if the connection uses AS2)</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

4. Click **Create 3rd party connection**.

## Configure Additional Connection Settings

Add the following settings for the new third-party connection, either now or later on:

<table><colgroup><col> <col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Settings</th><th>To access this setting</th><th>Additional Information</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Information about the connection, such as the address, website, and contact details for the third-party company.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>Edit</strong> in the <strong>About</strong> section.</p></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><p>Additional identifiers to associate with the connection.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>New</strong> in the <strong>Identifiers</strong> section.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/partner-manager-identifiers">Sender and Receiver Identifiers</a></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>The connection’s digital certificates, such as X.509 certificates.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>New</strong> in the <strong>Certificates</strong> section.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/manage-partner-certificates">Managing Partner and Third-Party Connection Certificates</a></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>The connection-specific endpoints to use for sending and receiving messages through the connection. If you plan to use host-owned endpoints only, you don’t need to create connection-specific endpoints.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>New</strong> in the <strong>Endpoints</strong> section.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/create-endpoint">Creating Endpoints</a></p></td></tr></tbody></table>

## Next Step

After you create a third-party connection and configure third-party-specific endpoints (if needed),
you can set up message flows that use the connection.
