# Creating Partners

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Create a new partner by using the **Partners** page to specify partner-specific information such as
name, identifiers, endpoints, and validation rules.

Before you create your first partner,
[make sure that you have configured your payload storage API](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/setup-payload-storage-api) and that
you have the following information:

- The partner’s name (usually the name of the company)

- One or more partner identifiers (such as the AS2 ID, X12-ISA, X12 GS, and so on)

To create a partner:

1. In Partner Manager, select **Partners** in the sidebar.

2. Click **Create partner > Partner**.

3. Enter the following information:

<table><colgroup><col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Setting</th><th>Description</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p><strong>Name</strong></p></td><td><p>Text string that uniquely identifies your partner</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Type</strong></p></td><td><p>Identifier type</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Qualifier</strong></p></td><td><p>Value that appears if you selected <strong>X12-ISA</strong> or <strong>EDIFACT-UNB</strong> as the type</p></td></tr><tr><td><p><strong>Identifier Value</strong></p></td><td><p>Value that uniquely identifies your partner in the EDI stream</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

4. Click **Create partner**.

Partner Manager environments support a maximum of 1,000 partners each. To onboard more partners,
create an additional environment.

## Configure Additional Partner Settings

Add the following settings for the new partner, either now or later on:

<table><colgroup><col> <col> <col></colgroup><thead><tr><th>Settings</th><th>Action</th><th>Additional Information</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><p>Information about the partner, such as the partner’s address, website, and contact details.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>Edit</strong> in the <strong>About</strong> section.</p></td><td></td></tr><tr><td><p>Additional identifiers to associate with the partner.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>New</strong> in the <strong>Identifiers</strong> section.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/partner-manager-identifiers">Sender and Receiver Identifiers</a></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Partner’s digital certificates, such as X.509 certificates.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>New</strong> in the <strong>Certificates</strong> section.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/manage-partner-certificates">Managing Partner and Third-Party Connection Certificates</a></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Partner-specific endpoints to use for sending and receiving messages to and from your partner, including acknowledgment endpoints. If you plan to use host endpoints only, you don’t need to create partner-specific endpoints.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>New</strong> in the <strong>Endpoints</strong> section.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/create-endpoint">Creating Endpoints</a></p></td></tr><tr><td><p>Acknowledgments, validations, and control numbers for each message format that the partner uses. For EDIFACT and X12, you can also configure character sets and separators (send formats only).</p></td><td><p>Click the links in the <strong>Validation and acknowledgement</strong> settings.</p></td><td><div><div><ul><li><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/edifact-receive-read-settings">EDIFACT Receive Settings</a></p></li><li><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/edifact-send-settings">EDIFACT Send Settings</a></p></li><li><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/x12-receive-read-settings">X12 Receive Settings</a></p></li><li><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/x12-send-settings">X12 Send Settings</a></p></li></ul></div></div></td></tr><tr><td><p>Character encoding override option for received AS2 messages.</p></td><td><p>Click <strong>AS2</strong> in <strong>Global endpoint settings</strong>.</p></td><td><p><a href="https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/as2-encoding">AS2 Receive Settings</a></p></td></tr></tbody></table>
