# Tracking Individual Messages

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

The message view in Anypoint Partner Manager provides visibility into individual transactions within
a transmission. Use the message view to monitor the messages exchanged between partner and
suppliers, view the message payload, and see how individual messages are processed and routed.

The message view has one record for each transaction. For example, if an incoming transmission
contains 30 transactions, the message view has 30 corresponding records.

A message record contains the following information:

- Business key and other custom attributes that are included in the message type definition

- Pre-translated and post-translated payloads

Partner Manager does not create message view records when:

- An inbound transaction fails during validation, resulting in a complete rejection of the
  transaction.

- An inbound transaction fails due to AS2 security issues.

- An outbound transaction fails when translating the source payload to a different format.

- An outbound transaction fails when writing X12 or EDIFACT data.

To track transmissions instead of individual messages, see
[Tracking Transmissions](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/activity-tracking).

## Locate a Message

Select a message to view its details and view and download its contents:

1. In the sidebar, select **Activity**.

2. Leave the default, **Messages**.

3. Search for the message.

4. Optionally, filter the search results based on the following criteria:

    - Partner name

    - Message direction

    - Date range within which the message was sent

You can retrieve up to one week’s worth of messages.

    - Message processing status, such as `Received`

    - Acknowledgement status, such as `Overdue`

    - Partner message type, such as `X12 - 850`

    - Host message type, such as `JSON host-purchase-order`

    - Message attribute, if the message type associated with the message has custom attributes

    - Message value

    - Transmission or message ID

Partner Manager returns a list of messages that meet your search criteria along with related
information such as the date the message was received, message status, message type, partner,
document ID, business key, and acknowledgment status.

5. Click on a message to review additional information about the message and to view its message
    flow.

## View Message Summaries

Use AI to generate a summary of the message payload. Make sure you’ve enabled Einstein in
[CloudHub 1.0](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/cloudhub-deployment-settings), [CloudHub 2.0](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/cloudhub2-deployment-settings), or
[Runtime Fabric](https://docs.mulesoft.com/partner-manager/latest/rtf-deployment-settings) deployment settings.

To generate a summary, open the source or target payload on the message details page and click
**Summarize**. If this is the first time you’re viewing a summary, accept the conditions to allow
the use of Einstein.

The summary shows key details, such as the message type, sender, and receiver, as well as the
contents of the message like the order number, customer name, and order details.
