# Tutorial: Build an API from Start to Finish

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Build your first API from design to deployment using Anypoint Code Builder. Design an API spec,
implement the logic, test locally, and deploy to CloudHub 2.0 to learn the complete MuleSoft API
development workflow.

## What You’ll Build

A simple "Hello World" API that:

- Returns a greeting message when you call it

- Demonstrates the complete API development lifecycle

- Runs in the cloud and is accessible from anywhere

## What You’ll Use

- Anypoint Code Builder

Your development environment for designing and building APIs.

- MuleSoft Vibes (Optional)

An AI assistant built into Anypoint Code Builder that generates API specs from simple
descriptions. Instead of writing code, you describe what you want. If you don’t have access to
MuleSoft Vibes, you can create API specs manually in Anypoint Code Builder.

- CloudHub 2.0

MuleSoft’s cloud platform where your APIs run. Deploy once and your API is accessible worldwide
  with automatic scaling and reliability.

- Runtime Manager

Your operations dashboard for monitoring deployed APIs, viewing logs, and managing applications
  running on CloudHub 2.0.

## Tutorial Steps

Complete the steps in order to create your first API:

2. [Design an API spec with AI](https://docs.mulesoft.com/general/api-led-design).

3. [Scaffold and implement the API](https://docs.mulesoft.com/general/api-led-develop).

4. [Test your API locally](https://docs.mulesoft.com/general/api-led-test).

5. [Deploy your API to CloudHub 2.0](https://docs.mulesoft.com/general/api-led-deploy).

6. [Verify and monitor your API](https://docs.mulesoft.com/general/api-led-operate).

After completing this tutorial, you’ll understand the MuleSoft development workflow and be ready to
build more complex APIs.
