# Deprecate API Group Instances

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

You might want to deprecate an API Group instance if a more recent version of the group instance
exists. Deprecating an API Group instance from API Manager does not deprecate the API Group asset in
Exchange.

After an API Group instance is deprecated, no new contracts are accepted. To deprecate an asset in
Exchange, see [To deprecate asset](https://docs.mulesoft.com/exchange/manage-versions).

## Task Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure that you have the API Group Administrator permissions to be able to
deprecate an API Groups instance.

To deprecate an API Group:

1. Navigate to **Anypoint Platform** > **API Manager**.

2. Click **API Groups**.

3. Select the version of the API Group that you want to deprecate.

4. Click **…** > **Deprecate**.
