# Registering for Access to a Portal

Users who access a portal without logging in can’t perform most actions in the portal, like
requesting access to services to use them. Becoming a member gives you access to more services and
functionality. New users can sign up for an account to become a member. After signing up, API
Experience Hub sends a welcome email that contains a link to set up the account and password.

To register for an account:

1.  In a browser window, enter the URL of the portal.

2.  Click **Log in**.

3.  Click **Not a Member?**.

4.  Enter your first name, last name, and email address.

5.  Click **Sign Up**.

6.  Follow the instructions in the welcome email to set up your account.
