# Managing API Spec Versions with MuleSoft Vibes

> For the full documentation index, see: https://docs.mulesoft.com/llms.txt

Use MuleSoft Vibes to view and change the version of an API specification in your Mule project using
natural language. MuleSoft Vibes reads your project’s `pom.xml` file to identify API spec
dependencies, retrieves available versions from Anypoint Exchange, and applies the version change by
updating `pom.xml` and re-scaffolding the project.

To manage API spec versions using the **Project Properties** UI instead, see
[Managing API Spec Versions](https://docs.mulesoft.com/anypoint-code-builder/imp-manage-api-spec-versions).

## Before You Begin

- [Set up and access Anypoint Code Builder](https://docs.mulesoft.com/anypoint-code-builder/start-acb).

- [Set up MuleSoft Vibes](https://docs.mulesoft.com/anypoint-code-builder/mulesoft-vibes) and confirm you have the required permissions.

- Have an implementation or integration project that includes an API spec dependency published to
  Anypoint Exchange.

- Open the project folder so that the `pom.xml` file is accessible.

## Change an API Spec Version

To change the version of an API spec using MuleSoft Vibes:

1. Open MuleSoft Vibes.

2. Enter a prompt that describes the version change you want to make.

    Example prompts:

    - `I want to change the API version in my project.`

    - `Update the API spec to the latest version.`

    - `Check if there are newer API spec versions available.`

MuleSoft Vibes loads the `manage-api-version` skill and reads the `pom.xml` file to identify
      API spec dependencies.

3. Review the dependency information that MuleSoft Vibes returns, including the asset ID and
    current version.

4. Wait while MuleSoft Vibes fetches the available versions for the spec from Anypoint Exchange.

5. Select a version from the options MuleSoft Vibes presents.

If your project has multiple API spec dependencies, MuleSoft Vibes handles each one separately
and prompts you for each version.

6. Confirm the change when prompted.

MuleSoft Vibes updates the version property in the `pom.xml` file and re-scaffolds the project
    by running a build.

When the process completes, MuleSoft Vibes returns a summary, for example:

API version updated and project rescaffolded successfully.

    Updated in pom.xml: covid19-data-tracking-api.version: 1.0.0 → 3.0.0

Build result: BUILD SUCCESS — APIkit pulled in the updated spec version 3.0.0 and the project
    packaged cleanly.

New endpoints introduced in the selected version are added as flows. Existing flows are not
    modified.

7. Optionally, click **View Changes** to review the updated `pom.xml` in the editor.
