# Get Started with Enhanced In-App Chat

We provide a UI SDK and a Core SDK for both [iOS](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/service/messaging-in-app/guide/ios-guidelines.md) and [Android](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/service/messaging-in-app/guide/android-guidelines.md). The UI SDK gives you a ready-to-use messaging user interface. You can use the default colors, UI text, and icons, or you can customize the UI so that it looks and feels like the rest of your mobile app. The Core SDK gives you access to the lower-level APIs without any UI elements. With the Core SDK, developers can build the UI experience to their specifications. For most customers, using the UI SDK with some customizations is the best balance between implementation effort and a customized interface.

 **Note:** the UI SDK is in maintenance mode. We continue to support existing implementations with critical updates. New features are released only in the [Agentforce Mobile SDK](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/guide/agentforce-mobile-sdk.html).

## UI SDK (+ Core SDK)

If you want to take advantage of our out-of-the-box user interface and user experience, try the Enhanced In-App Chat UI SDK ([iOS](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/service/messaging-in-app/guide/ios-ui-sdk.md), [Android](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/service/messaging-in-app/guide/android-ui-sdk.md)). To build a UI SDK app, add the In-App Messaging view to your app. With the UI SDK, you get all the latest Enhanced In-App Chat features built right into the user interface, including [bot support](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.messaging_considerations_bots.htm), [pre-chat forms](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.miaw_custom_prechat_2.htm), [sending and receiving photos and files](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.livemessage_agent_send_files.htm), [push notifications](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.miaw_inapp_push.htm), [estimated wait time](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=service.miaw_estimated_wait_time.htm). In addition, you can customize the colors, the UI text, and the icons.

## Core SDK Only

To create your own UI from scratch, use the Core SDK ([iOS](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/service/messaging-in-app/guide/ios-core-sdk.md), [Android](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/service/messaging-in-app/guide/android-core-sdk.md)), which provides you with all the basic messaging functionality without any user interface elements.

**note:** ​​The UI SDK also includes the Core SDK.
