Troubleshooting Web Console

I am Unable to Edit Apex in Production Org

Web Console is designed to preserve production guardrails. In production orgs, Apex remains read only, with users able to inspect code but not directly modify it. In non-production orgs, developers can use Web Console for quick fixes, testing, and validation workflows.

The Run Query Option Isn't Available

The user needs the Use Any API Client permission to be able to use the Run Query option. To enable this permission, refer to Enable Web Console.

The Developer Console Option is Not Available

The Developer Console option is not visible by default in Setup. To enable it, navigate to Setup, enter Development in the Quick Find box, and select Web Console. Switch the Enable Developer Console setting to Active. If Web Console is set to Inactive, Developer Console activates by default. If both environments are set to Active, both options remain available from the Setup menu. Refer to Enable Web Console for details.

important: While Web Console offers enhanced functionality and an improved user experience, you can re-enable the legacy Developer Console at any time. If your workflow requires reverting to Developer Console, let us know why and submit your feedback through the Web Console Feedback Repository to help inform future platform improvements.
