# Overview of the Salesforce Development Plugin

The Salesforce Development plugin bundles AI Skills, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, agents, hooks, commands, and other tools for Claude Code.

The plugin detects your Salesforce DX project and connected org, loads core [AI Skills](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/salesforce-skills-plugins/guide/overview.md), and uses Salesforce CLI and Salesforce-hosted MCP servers for your task. You review proposed changes before applying them.

Installing the plugin automatically configures the `salesforce-api-context`, `salesforce-metadata-experts`, and `salesforce-lsp` MCP servers. Other MCP servers aren't included. To use the [Headless 360 MCP Server (Beta)](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/hosted-mcp-servers/guide/headless-360-mcp.html), activate it in your org and configure your MCP client with OAuth authentication.

Some guided workflows require additional Salesforce products, licenses, org configuration, or specialized plugins. These workflow-specific requirements are separate from core plugin setup and are documented with the applicable workflow.

Before you install the plugin, [review its usage telemetry and privacy behavior](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/salesforce-skills-plugins/guide/usage-telemetry-privacy.md).

## Get Proactive Plugin Recommendations

The Salesforce Development plugin recommends relevant uninstalled Salesforce plugins in three ways:

- **Project signals:** When you start a session in a Salesforce DX project, the plugin scans concrete file signals. For example, Lightning Web Component files can trigger a recommendation for the `experience-lwc` plugin.
- **Task prompts:** When your prompt strongly matches a specialized capability, the plugin recommends the relevant plugin before continuing the task.
- **Manual discovery:** Run `/salesforce-development:discover plugins SEARCH_TEXT` to search the curated catalog. Replace `SEARCH_TEXT` with a feature or task. The command ranks matches by confidence and doesn't install anything.

The plugin never installs a recommended plugin automatically. Review the plugin's source and capabilities before you approve one installation at a time. After installation, run `/reload-plugins`, then enter `continue` to resume your original task. Claude Code can then use the specialized plugin's skills, hooks, agents, MCP tools, scripts, and commands.

Run `/salesforce-development:plugin-recommendations status` to check the current sensitivity. Set it to `low`, `standard`, or `high`, or use a custom threshold from `1.0` through `10.0`. High sensitivity shows recommendations more often; low sensitivity shows fewer. Lower custom thresholds show recommendations more often. To browse plugins manually with `/plugin`, turn recommendations off.
