# getReference()

Returns a live reference to the value indicated using property syntax. This method is useful when you dynamically create a component.

## Signature

`getReference(String key)`

## Parameters

**_key_:** Type: `String`. The data key for which to return a reference.

## Returns

**Type: `PropertyReferenceValue`** A property reference value.
