# Salesforce AI Skill for Post-Install Configuration

Use the `dx-pkg-post-install-configure` AI Skill to automate the post-install configuration for any Salesforce managed package.

AI Skills are packaged instruction sets that give AI coding clients specialized knowledge for building on the Salesforce platform. Skills are available from the [forcedotcom/sf-skills repository](https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills) in GitHub. For more information, see [Use AI Skills for Salesforce Development
](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/platform/salesforce-skills-plugins/guide/overview.html) in _Salesforce Development Plugin for Claude Code_.

The [dx-pkg-post-install-configure](https://github.com/forcedotcom/sf-skills/tree/main/skills/dx-pkg-post-install-configure) skill automates the post-install configuration for any managed package. The post-install configuration can include:

- Permission sets
- Object or field permissions
- Page layouts
- Visualforce page access
- Tab settings

**note:** Before you use the `dx-pkg-post-install-configure` skill, you must have the following:

- A fully authenticated org with active Salesforce admin permissions.
- Salesforce-hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers enabled. The `sf-object-all` MCP server is required. `sf-metadata` MCP servers are optional.
- The target package already installed in the org.
- Post-installation documentation that the agent can access.

Sample prompts:

- “I’ve just installed ExamplePackage. Configure its permission sets.”
- “Set up ExamplePackage.”
- “I've installed a managed package called \`ExamplePackage\`. Run the post-install setup for me.”
