# Handlebars Helper Function: isEmailAddress

Tests whether an email address is structurally valid.

**note:** This helper doesn't verify that an email address or domain exists. It only checks whether the supplied address aligns with the standardized structure of an email address.

## Availability

This helper is available in the Winter ’27 release of Marketing Cloud Next.

## Syntax

```handlebars
{{isEmailAddress emailAddress}}
```

## Parameters

| Parameter      | Type   | Description                          |
| -------------- | ------ | ------------------------------------ |
| `emailAddress` | String | Required. The email address to test. |

## Return Value

The function returns `true` if `emailAddress` is structurally valid. Otherwise, it returns `false`.

## Usage Example

This example checks whether an email address is structurally valid.

```handlebars
{{isEmailAddress "tomas.santos@example.org"}}
```

The function returns `true`.

This table lists results for several other examples, and explains why an example returns `true` or `false`.

| Function Call                                       | Result  | Notes                                                                     |
| --------------------------------------------------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `{{isEmailAddress "pooja.chatterjee@example.com"}}` | `true`  |                                                                           |
| `{{isEmailAddress "pooja.chaterjee@example"}}`      | `true`  | An email domain can omit a top-level domain, such as `.com`.              |
| `{{isEmailAddress "pooja.chatterjeeexample.com"}}`  | `false` | This address is missing an at sign.                                       |
| `{{isEmailAddress "pooja@chatterjee@example.com"}}` | `false` | This address contains two at signs.                                       |
| `{{isEmailAddress "@example.com"}}` | `false` | This address is missing the local part, which appears before the at sign. |
| `{{isEmailAddress "pooja.chatterjee@.com"}}`        | `false` | This address is missing a second-level domain.                            |
