# Variable Utility Functions

This Variable object allows you to set and retrieve information contained in AMPscript variables. A name passed without the @ prefix will receive that prefix during processing. This process allows your JavaScript to interact with your AMPscript.

## Load

In your Server-side JavaScript code, first load the core library using this syntax:

```
Platform.Load("core","1");
```
