# GetAttributeValue

Returns the value from a specified attribute or sendable data extension field.

## Syntax

`GetAttributeValue(1)`

| Ordinal | Type   | Description                                                                        |
| ------- | ------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 1       | string | Required. The attribute or sendable data extension field to retrieve the value of. |

## Example

This example retrieves the email address for a contact and outputs the value to the browser.
