# AMPscript Contact Functions

Use the AMPscript Contact functions to interact with contacts in Marketing Cloud Engagement.

There’s only one function related to managing contacts. You can use the [UpsertContacts()](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/marketing/marketing-cloud-ampscript/references/mc-ampscript-contacts/mc-ampscript-reference-contacts-upsert-contact.md) function to create or update contact records. This function isn’t supported in Marketing Cloud Next.
