# Set Up SLDS Linter

To get started with SLDS Linter, follow these steps.

## Complete these prerequisites:

- Install [Visual Studio (VS) Code](https://code.visualstudio.com/).
- Install the [SARIF Viewer](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=MS-SarifVSCode.sarif-viewer) VS Code extension.
  With this extension you can view reports containing the issues identified by SLDS Linter.
- Install [Node.js](https://nodejs.org/).
  The minimum supported version is v18.4.0. We recommend using the latest [Active Long Term Support](https://nodejs.org/en/about/previous-releases) (LTS) version of Node.js.

## Install SLDS Linter

1. Open your project in VS Code.
2. Open Terminal in VS Code.
3. Run any SLDS Linter command.

   ```
   ```

4. If SLDS Linter isn’t installed, you’re asked to install the SLDS Linter package. Type `y`.
