# Overview

SLDS Validator is a Visual Studio (VS) Code extension that scans your code, validates it against a database of Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) guidelines, and offers recommendations on how to improve your code. SLDS Validator:

- Evaluates your HTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and component markup (CMP) code inline as you write it in VS Code.
- Simplifies working with SLDS in Aura and Lightning.

With the SLDS Validator extension, you get:

- SLDS 1 and SLDS 2 support
- Validation with recommended tokens and utility classes
- Syntax highlighting
- Code completion
- Context awareness
- Bulk report generation
