# Industry API

Industry APIs are developed in compliance with TM Forum standards. These are inbound APIs exposed on top of Salesforce Communications Cloud, enabling external systems to seamlessly interact with Salesforce data models.

For the Spring'26 and Summer'26 releases, customers can access the inbound APIs using either of the following methods.

- **Mule Gateway:** Access APIs through the MuleSoft endpoints.
- **Direct Access:** Bypass MuleSoft gateway and invoke the APIs directly through Connect/Apex REST endpoints.

Both access methods are supported to provide flexibility and ensure backward compatibility during the transition period.

**important:** Starting from the Winter ’27 release, only the Direct Access option will be supported. The MuleSoft gateway option will be deprecated, and customers must update their integrations to use the Connect/Apex REST endpoints for continued access to the inbound APIs.

## MuleSoft-Based API Access

Following block diagram provides a high-level overview of how the various components are involved in accessing TMF APIs through MuleSoft gateway.

1. [Get Started with Industry API](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/industries/communications/guide/get_started_industry_API.md) — choose APIs by certification, specification version, and deployment option.
2. [Accept Terms and Enable Access](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/industries/communications/guide/consent_industryAPI.md) — enable the APIs, authorize the client, and configure data access.
3. [Call the API](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/industries/communications/guide/call_the_api.md) — build the request URL.
4. [Extensibility for TMF APIs](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/industries/communications/guide/Extensibility/introduction_ext.md) — review the framework, then open the Extensibility topic under the TMF API you are customizing.
5. Open the TMF API you are integrating with for overview, use cases, resource mappings, and API-specific extensibility.
