# iOS Configuration Overview

The Agentforce iOS SDK provides a comprehensive configuration system that enables fine-grained control over agent behavior, UI customization, and system integration. The configuration system is built around the central `AgentforceConfiguration` class, which serves as the primary configuration hub for all SDK functionality.

## Configuration Architecture

The configuration system follows a hierarchical structure with clear separation of concerns:

### Core Configuration Classes

- **[AgentforceConfiguration](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/agentforce-configuration-ios.md)** - Central configuration hub with all SDK settings and dependencies
- **[EmployeeAgentConfiguration](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/employee-agent-configuration-ios.md)** - Employee-specific agent behavior and settings
- **[ServiceAgentConfiguration](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/service-agent-configuration-ios.md)** - Service agent configuration for customer interactions
- **[AgentforceFeatureFlagSettings](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/agentforce-feature-flag-settings-ios.md)** - Feature flag management for A/B testing and gradual rollouts
- **[AgentforcePageContext](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/agentforce-page-context-ios.md)** - Page context information for contextual agent behavior
- **[AgentforcePageContextProviding](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/agentforce-page-context-providing-ios.md)** - Protocol for providing page context data

## Configuration Categories

### Agent Configuration

The SDK supports two primary agent types with specialized configuration:

#### Employee Agent Configuration

- **Internal Use Cases**: Employee assistance and productivity tools
- **Access Control**: Role-based access and permissions
- **Integration**: Deep integration with Salesforce org data
- **Customization**: Employee-specific UI and behavior preferences

#### Service Agent Configuration

- **Customer Interactions**: External customer support and service
- **Brand Consistency**: Customer-facing branding and messaging
- **Escalation Handling**: Service agent escalation workflows
- **Compliance**: Customer data protection and privacy controls

### System Configuration

#### Core Dependencies

- **Data Provider**: Custom data access and Salesforce integration
- **Image Provider**: Image loading and caching strategies
- **Analytics Handler**: Analytics and instrumentation integration
- **Theme Manager**: Visual theming and customization

#### Network and Navigation

- **Salesforce Network**: HTTP communication and network abstraction
- **Navigation Handler**: App navigation integration
- **Logging Provider**: Diagnostic and debugging information

#### Feature Management

- **Feature Flags**: Dynamic feature toggling and experimentation
- **Debug Settings**: Development and debugging capabilities
- **Performance Tuning**: System optimization and resource management

## Configuration Patterns

### Minimal Configuration

Start with essential configuration parameters for basic SDK functionality.

### Full-Featured Configuration

Implement comprehensive configuration with all available options for production deployments.

## Configuration Benefits

- **Flexibility**: Comprehensive customization options for any use case
- **Modularity**: Independent configuration of different system components
- **Extensibility**: Easy integration of custom providers and handlers
- **Maintainability**: Clear separation of concerns and configuration management
- **Testing**: Support for different configurations for development and testing

## Best Practices

- **Start Simple**: Begin with minimal configuration and add complexity as needed
- **Use Feature Flags**: Leverage feature flags for gradual rollouts and A/B testing
- **Custom Providers**: Implement custom providers for specialized requirements
- **Environment Separation**: Use different configurations for development, staging, and production
- **Documentation**: Document custom configurations and their purposes

## Next Steps

- **Authentication**: See [iOS Authentication Overview](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/authentication-overview-ios.md) for credential setup
- **UI Components**: See [iOS UI Components](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/ui-components-ios.md) for interface building
- **Integration**: See [iOS Development](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/ai/agentforce-mobile-sdk/references/agentforce-mobile-sdk/development-ios.md) for architecture patterns
