# `INITCAP`

```sql
initcap(<string>)
```

## Arguments

### Required

- `<string>`: The string to convert.

## Returns

Returns a text value with each word capitalized.

- Apostrophes and hyphens within words cause the following character to be capitalized.

### Convert to Title Case

Apply initial capitalization.

```sql
SELECT initcap('hi THOMAS') AS result;
```

Returns `'Hi Thomas'`.
