# Set Up Ingestion API Connector

As an admin in Data 360, set up an Ingestion API connector source to bring in data from external sources.

| Edition Table |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Available in: **All Editions** supported by Data 360. See [Data 360 edition availability](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_dc_editions.htm&type=5). |

| User Permissions Needed |                                                             |

| To access Data Cloud Setup | System Admin profile or Data Cloud Architect permission set |

1. In Data Cloud , click **Setup**, and then select **Data Cloud Setup**.

2. Under Salesforce Integrations, select **Ingestion API**.

3. Click **New** and enter a name for the API source.

4. Click **Save**.

On the details page for the new connector, upload a schema file in OpenAPI (OAS) format with a .yaml file extension. The schema file describes how data from your website is structured. We recommend validating your schema before using a third-party tool for ingestion.

5. Click **Upload Schema** and navigate to the location of the file that you want to use.

6. Select the file and click **Open**.

7. Preview all the detected objects and their attributes in your schema.

8. Click **Save**.

The connector page reflects the status as 'Needs Data Stream'. The status changes to 'In Use' when a data stream is created and is active with the connector.

Refer to [Share Ingestion API Developer Information](/docs/data/data-cloud-int/guide/c360-a-developer-required-information.html) and pass along necessary information to your developer. [Create an Ingestion API Data Stream](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=c360_a_create_ingestion_data_stream.htm&type=5) to send data from your source system.
