# Set Up an Azure PostgreSQL Connection

Create an Azure PostgreSQL connection to bring in data into Data 360.

| User Permissions Needed | |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| To create a connection: | System Admin profile or Data Cloud Architect permission set |

Before you begin:

- Review the [IP addresses](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=data.c360_a_data_cloud_ip_address_allowlist.htm&type=5) to make sure the Azure PostgreSQL connection has the necessary access.

1. In Data Cloud, click **Setup**, and select **Data Cloud Setup**.

2. Under External Integrations, select **Other Connectors**.

3. Click **New**.

4. On the Source tab, select **Azure PostgreSQL**, and then click **Next**.

5. Enter a connection name, connection API name, and provide the authentication and connection details.

6. For Authentication Details, select the **Authentication Method** that you want to use from the dropdown.

    1. For Username and Password, provide the username and password to authenticate the user.
    2. For Azure Service Principal, provide these details:
       - **Username**: The Service Principal name.
       - **Azure Tenant ID**: The Microsoft Entra ID Directory (tenant) ID that owns the App Registration.
       - **Service Principal Client ID**: The App Registration's Application (Client) ID.
       - **Service Principal Client Secret**: The Microsoft Entra ID client secret value for the App Registration. Rotate the secret before it expires per the Entra ID secret lifetime.

7. For Connection Details, enter Connection URL that uses the following format: `{hostname}.postgres.database.azure.com{:port}`

    1. Hostnames are 1–63 lowercase letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), or hyphens (-). Hostnames can't start or end with ‌a hyphen.
    2. The port is optional. If included, the port is 4–5 numbers (0–9) and prefixed with a colon (:).

8. For Schema, enter the database schema the user's access is limited to for this connection.

9. For Database, enter the PostgreSQL database for which the user's credentials are authenticated.

10. To review your configuration, click **Test Connection**.

11. Click **Save**.

After the connector details are accepted, the connection is created and listed under Connectors.
