# Process Payment

To place an order, submit a tokenized payment from a payment provider. Use this resource for:

- Salesforce Payments
- Custom payment adapters

**Endpoint:** POST [`/commerce/webstores/{webstoreId}/checkouts/{cartId}/payments`](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.chatterapi.meta/chatterapi/connect_resources_commerce_webstore_checkouts_payments.htm)

**Note:** If you modify the cart after setting the billing address, the system invalidates the payment and clears the billing address.
