# Lookup Inventory on PDP via SPIs in Point of Sale

Use one of two SPIs for the POS Product Detail Page (PDP) to get inventory information from an external system.

One SPI, the Inventory Overview Widget, allows merchants to populate nearby inventory via an SPI (versus using Salesforce inventory records). For details, see [checkInventoryOverview](https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/commerce/retail-cloud/references/inventory-spi?meta=checkInventoryOverview).

The second SPI, Inventory by ZIP code, allows associates to receive inventory information (as a descriptive string) based on a delivery ZIP code. These methods are ideal for merchants who have an external Controller of Record (COR) and don’t want to store inventory data with Salesforce.
