# Restrict Data Processing for Education Cloud

When situations require you to do so, you can prevent the processing of your constituents’ data.

Among the laws that apply to many institutions collecting and processing their constituents' data are:

- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), European Union
- Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), United States
- Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, United States
- California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), United States

If you encounter situations that require you to restrict data processing for any of your constituents, review these common requests and the procedures related to them.

              Salesforce.</p>
            <p>Work with the person to verify the data’s accuracy. Then, get their
              approval to resume processing their data.</p>

              account in your student portal flag the individual as HasOptedOutProcessing via SOAP
              API.</p>
