# Reset Qualifying Points

The Reset Qualifying Points Data Processing Engine definition calculates and resets the qualifying points balance to zero for members based on the tier model.

### Required Editions

The definition calculates and resets the qualifying points balance to zero for active members in the specified program and tier group. It resets the points when the Qualifying Points Reset Date value matches or exceeds the reset date defined at the tier group level.

After the reset, the definition updates the Loyalty Member Currency records with the new zero balance and reset dates. It also creates transaction journals and loyalty ledger records to track the reset event.

Note If you enter a future date for the Qualifying Points Reset Date variable, the definition uses the current date instead to prevent points from expiring prematurely.
