Let's consider a scenario where Acme Fabrication earns an additional discount as its order value crosses set thresholds: no discount under $1,000, a $50 discount on orders from $1,000 up to $4,999.99, and a $200 discount on orders of $5,000 or more. This is a value scale — tiers are based on the order's total value, not the quantity of units ordered.

1. Define the Scale Discount Specification.

    ![Note](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-xcloud-penny_perfect_pricing-264-0-0-production-enus/8ac1130d-00eb-4b6b-ba82-4b09e6f166a0/images/icon_note.png)

Note Condition Level can't be set to OrderHeader while Base is set to Quantity — quantity-based scales are evaluated per item, not at the header level.

    1. See [Create a Pricing Specification](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.ppp_create_specification.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Define calculation behavior, rounding, and scale conditions for a pricing element.") for the create/activate procedure. Create a specification named "Order Value Scale Discount."
    2. Set **Meta Type** to FixAmount, **Base** to Value, **Scale Condition** to From/To (a single matching tier applies) or Graduated (each tier's discount accumulates progressively), and **Condition Level** to OrderHeader. Click **Save**, then **Activate**.
2. Add the Scale Step to the Calculation Schema.
    1. Open the Standard Pricing Procedure calculation schema.
    2. Add a new Calculation Schema Step referencing the Order Value Scale Discount specification, with **Position** = 30 and **Step Reference** = 20, so the scale discount evaluates against the order's net value after the volume discount is applied. Click **Save**, then **Activate**.
3. Load the Scale Tiers.
    1. Using Data Loader, import an **External Pricing Key Value** record for the discount, and two **External Pricing Key Value Tier** child records: Tier Threshold Value = 1000 with Pricing Value = 50, and Tier Threshold Value = 5000 with Pricing Value = 200.
    2. Run the **External Pricing Key Value Consolidation** job. See [Load Pricing Data from a Backend ERP System](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.ppp_scenario_load_erp_data.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Export pricing condition data from an ERP system and consolidate it for runtime pricing lookups — the load-and-consolidate procedure shared by the pricing scenarios in this section.") for the full job procedure.
4. Simulate the Price.
    1. Create an order for Acme Fabrication with enough units of Steel Bracket A100 to bring the order's net value to $4,500 (for example, 55 units at the discounted $85.50 unit price from the previous scenario).
    2. Recalculate the price. On the **Pricing Details** tab, open [Review Scale-Based Pricing](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.ppp_view_pricing_waterfall.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Inspect the step-by-step breakdown of which conditions were evaluated, applied, or excluded during price determination, including scale-tier details.") for step 30 to confirm the $1,000–$4,999.99 tier matched, applying a $50 discount.
    3. Increase the order quantity so the net value reaches $5,000 or more, and recalculate. Confirm the tier changes to the $5,000-and-above tier, applying a $200 discount instead.
