# Wildcards in Calculation Matrices (Managed Package)

For the managed package runtime, starting in Winter '20, you can make it possible for calculation procedures and other Vlocity features that call calculation matrices to use a wildcard in place of a value for one column.

![Managed Package app icon](https://sf-zdocs-cdn-prod.zoominsoftware.com/tdta-xcloud-omnistudio_for_managed_packages-264-0-0-production-enus/aa2554ec-624a-4ee6-8da4-6435670e6e62/resources-global/_corporate/images/managedpackageicon.png) This information is for Omnistudio for Managed Packages. For Omnistudio on standard runtime, see [Omnistudio Help](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.os_omnistudio_standard.htm&language=en_US).

For example, you've got a calculation matrix that contains insurance ratings for thirty of these states in the United States. Because you don't have separate ratings for the other twenty states but you want your calculation procedure to find a value for those states, you make the State column into a wildcard-enabled column.

You set up your wildcard column when you first create your calculation matrix. So you need to know the exact name of the column and the value of the wildcard.

For the State example, the column name and value can be:

- **Wildcard Column**: state
- **Wildcard Value**: ALL

Wildcard columns work in standard, grouped, and row-versioned calculation matrices.
