# Issue Vouchers for Transactions and Promotions with Promotion Setup

A loyalty program can issue vouchers to its members for completing activities that are eligible for a reward. For example, members can be issued a voucher for shopping on their membership anniversary or for posting about your company on their social media handles. When setting up a loyalty program rule, program managers can use the Issue Voucher action to automate the process of issuing vouchers to members whenever they meet the eligibility conditions for a voucher.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Developer</strong>&nbsp;Editions with Loyalty Management</td></tr></tbody></table>

The Issue Voucher action can be configured based on the requirements of the loyalty program rule to which that the action belongs. Here are a few ways in which you can configure the action based on the requirements of the rule that it’s being used in:

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small ">
        <colgroup>
          <col style="width:50%">

          </tr>
        </thead>
        <tbody>

            <td data-label="Business Requirement" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d69532e66 ">The rule must be flexible to issue different vouchers at different times
              without any downtime</td>
            <td data-label="Configuration" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d69532e68 ">In the Voucher Definition Name field, use a parameter to specify the voucher
              definition that the rule must use to issue vouchers. You can update the parameter to
              specify a different voucher definition without having to deactivate the
              rule.</td>
          </tr>
          <tr class="">

              vouchers issued by the action. </td>
          </tr>
          <tr class="">
            <td data-label="Business Requirement" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d69532e66 ">The rule must issue vouchers that members can start redeeming from a specific
              date or date time</td>

              time from when the issued vouchers must be available for members to redeem.</td>
          </tr>
          <tr class="">
            <td data-label="Business Requirement" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d69532e66 ">The rule must issue vouchers that expire on a specific date or date

              <p>In the Expiration Date or the Expiration Date Time field. enter the date or

              <p style="margin-bottom:0;">This option
                is only available for voucher definitions with a fixed date type validity. The
                expiration date or date time is automatically calculated for voucher definitions
                with period type validity.</p>
            </td>
          </tr>
          <tr class="">
            <td data-label="Business Requirement" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d69532e66 ">The discount value or percentage of vouchers must be decided when the rule is
              executed</td>
            <td data-label="Configuration" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d69532e68 ">
              <p>In the Voucher Face Value or the Voucher Discount Percentage field, you can use:</p>
              <ul>
                <li>A formula to calculate the discount value or percentage</li>
                <li>A parameter to get the discount value or percentage from a previous step in
                  the rule</li>
                <li>A sObject parameter to get the discount value or percentage from the field
                  value of a record</li>
              </ul>
            </td>
          </tr>
        </tbody>
      </table>

You can store the voucher code of the issued vouchers as a parameter and use the code in subsequent steps of the rule.

Here's what happens after a rule issues a voucher:

| Purpose of Rule | Outcome |
| --- | --- |
| The rule is used to process member transactions and reward members | The issued voucher is associated with the transaction journal that the voucher was issued for. |
| The rule is used to apply promotions for member transactions | The issued voucher is associated with the transaction journal and the promotion that the voucher was issued for. |
