If vouchers have to be issued to loyalty program members for business processes that are
managed outside Salesforce, program managers can use the Issue Voucher process template. After
program managers activate a process that's created using the template, system integrators can
integrate the process with external systems via a business API. For example, the business API
can be integrated with an external order management system and the process can be run every time
an order is delayed.

Process Configuration
Processes that are created by cloning the Issue Voucher process template consist of a rule and a
set of process parameters. The rule contains only one step, the Issue Voucher action.
When creating the process, program managers select the voucher definition that the Issue Voucher
action uses to issue vouchers. The process parameters provide the values for the remaining
input parameters of the action.
The program managers can choose how the code, discount, and the validity period of the issued
vouchers are decided. Here are the options:
| Business Requirement |
How to Achieve It |
| The code, discount, and validity period of all issued vouchers is the
same |
Change the type of each process parameter to Constant and enter the value for
each parameter |
| The external system that runs the process provides the code, discount, and
validity period for all issued vouchers |
No changes are required to the action |
| The external system that runs the process provides the code and the validity
period of all issued vouchers |
Change the type of the discount parameter to Constant and enter the discount
amount as the parameter value. |
Process Execution
The Loyalty Program Process business API runs the
processes that are created by cloning process templates. The API integration with external
systems can be configured to execute the API whenever the external system requires a voucher
to be issued.
The external system must provide the ID or the membership number of the member to whom the
voucher must be issued. Depending on the configuration of the Issue Voucher action in the
process, the API request body must contain values for the process parameters that don't have
a constant value. To learn more about how to execute the API for processes created by
cloning the Issue Voucher template, see Issue a Voucher.
