# Transfer Member Points to Other Members

To ensure effective use of member points, members can transfer their redeemable points to other members of the loyalty program or to a group they are associated with. Service representatives can help transfer by using the Transfer Points action in a new or existing flow.

Because the expiration dates for the points stay the same after the transfer, the liability of the loyalty program remains unchanged.

When traceability is enabled, keep these considerations in mind when transferring points.

- If a member has pending trace records, you can’t transfer their points.
- When points are transferred:
    - A debit ledger is created for the source member and is processed as a standard debit transaction.
    - The points from the source member are debited in real time.
    - If transferring points creates a pending traceability record, points are credited to the target member only after you run the Map Traceable Points for Redemption Transactions invocable action.
