# Reduce Event Consumption with Efficient Transaction Journal Creation

Turn on the Transaction Journal Creation for Reward or Write Activities Only setting to create transaction journals only when transactions result in record updates or promotion rewards. This setting applies to real-time processing through the Transaction Journal Execution API when transaction details are provided in the payload. It doesn't impact batch processing, member functionality, or API requests that include a transaction journal ID in the payload.

When you turn on this setting, Loyalty Management creates transaction journals during real-time processing only when a loyalty program process performs one of these actions:

- Credit or debit points
- Issue or redeem vouchers
- Assign badge
- Issue game rewards
- Change member tier
- Update member attribute values
    
    Loyalty Management tracks member attribute values by using engagement attributes or promotion party usage records.
- Create, update, or delete records
- Send email
- Run flow
- Run program process

Important Loyalty Management creates a transaction journal when a Loyalty Program process runs a flow or subprocess, even if the flow or subprocess doesn't perform any eligible actions.

1. From Setup, use the Quick Find box to find and select **Loyalty Management Settings**.
2. Turn on **Transaction Journal Creation for Reward or Write Activities Only**.
