# Track Member Progress in Engagement Trails

You can reduce your data storage requirements by using the Promotion Party Usage object to track members' progress towards achieving milestones for Engagement Trail promotions. The Promotion Party Usage object uses fewer records to store attributes compared to engagement attributes. When you enable this setting, the attributes for Engagement Trail promotions are automatically stored in Promotion Party Usage records JSON format. You can use the Member Engagement Trail API to retrieve the record details.

### Required Editions

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small edition"><colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: Lightning Experience</td></tr><tr class=""><td class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;">Available in: <strong>Enterprise</strong>, <strong>Performance</strong>, <strong>Unlimited</strong>, and <strong>Developer</strong> Editions with Loyalty Management - Growth or Loyalty Management - Advanced</td></tr></tbody></table>

For example, if you create an engagement trail with three milestones, tracking a member’s progress through engagement attributes creates a minimum of three records. In contrast, the Promotion Party Usage object tracks a member’s progress with just one record, thereby reducing data usage.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Loyalty Management, and then select **Loyalty Management Settings**.
2. Turn on Track Member Progress for Engagement Trails Using Promotion Party Usage.

The Track Member Progress for Engagement Trails Using Promotion Party Usage setting is enabled by default from the Summer ‘25 release onwards. To use engagement attributes for tracking a member’s progress in engagement trails, turn off the setting.
