Set Up Data Processing Engine Definitions for Traceability

After you turn on traceability, set up invocable actions and Data Processing Engine definitions to process trace records.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience in Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with Loyalty Management - Growth or Loyalty Management - Advanced.

Fixed-Duration Currencies

Based on your enabled settings, run the set of Data Processing Engine jobs and invocable actions in the specified sequence to process trace records.

Traceability Setting When Consolidate Member Points for Expiration Is On When Consolidate Member Points for Expiration Is Off
Only Point Tracing for Fixed Duration Currencies is Enabled
  • Clone the Expire Fixed Non-Qualifying Points Using Aggregated Expiration Ledgers Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.
  • Clone the Map Expiry Ledgers to Credit Ledgers for Traceable Currencies Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.
  • Clone the Expire Fixed Non-Qualifying Points Data Processing Engine template, and customize the definition to expire only non-traceable currencies. Then run the definition.
  • Clone the Expire Non-Qualifying Points Using Traceability Loyalty Ledgers Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition. The definition expires only traceable currencies with fixed duration expiration.
  • Clone the Map Expiry Ledgers to Credit Ledgers for Traceable Currencies Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.
Asynchronous Point Tracing for Fixed Duration Currencies is Enabled
  • Run the Map Traceable Points for Redemption Transactions invocable action.
  • Clone the Expire Fixed Non-Qualifying Points Using Aggregation Ledgers and Traceable Ledgers Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.
  • Clone the Map Expiry Ledgers to Credit Ledgers for Traceable Currencies Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.
  • Run the Map Traceable Points for Redemption Transactions invocable action.
This definition expires only traceable currencies with fixed duration expiration.
  • Clone the Map Expiry Ledgers to Credit Ledgers for Traceable Currencies Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.

Activity-Based Currencies

When you enable Asynchronous Point Tracing for Activity-Based Currencies, run the invocable action and Data Processing Engine definitions in the specified sequence to process trace records.

  • Run the Map Traceable Points for Redemption Transactions invocable action.
  • If you’re using expiration by using grace periods, clone the Expire Activity Non-Qualifying Points with Traceability and Grace Periods Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.

If you’re not using expiration extensions, then clone the Expire Activity Non-Qualifying Points with Traceability Loyalty Ledgers Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.

  • Clone the Map Expiry Ledgers to Credit Ledgers for Traceable Currencies Data Processing Engine template, and run the definition.

Examples of How to Set Up Definitions and Invocable Actions

If you’re using synchronous tracing, use the prebuilt Data Processing Engine definition templates to create the definitions for processing trace records. Then, schedule the Data Processing Engine jobs.

If you’re using asynchronous tracing, you can run the Data Processing Engine jobs and invocable actions in near real time or at regular intervals.

After you enable traceability and set up Data Processing Engine definitions, enable ledger tracing for currencies and create currency subtypes.
