Loyalty program managers can define the minimum point balance that members require to be eligible for each tier in a tier group. A loyalty program process is automatically created based on the eligible point balance that the loyalty program manager has specified for each tier. The loyalty program process assesses and changes member tier based on the current qualifying point balance of members. If a member’s tier expiration date has passed, the process reassigns the member to the applicable tier based on their current point balance.

You can specify the minimum eligible point balance for one qualifying currency. To change member tier based on members’ point balance for two or more currencies, set up a custom process. If your loyalty program has multiple tier groups, generate a process for each tier group.
Before you add the eligible point balance for the tiers and generate the loyalty program process, review these considerations:
- You must regenerate the process if you:
- Change the eligible point balance for any tier.
- Change the name of any tier.
- Add another tier to the tier group.
- You must generate a new process if you change the name of your tier group.
You can deactivate and delete the process that was generated with the old tier group name.
- On a loyalty program record, click Setup.
- From the Loyalty Tier Groups related list, open the tier group for whose tiers you want to specify minimum eligible balances.
- On the Loyalty Tiers related list, click Manage Tier Eligibility.
-
Enter the minimum eligible balances for the tiers.
Ensure that the tier names only use alphanumeric characters.
-
Click Generate Rules.
The loyalty program process, Change Tier, is generated and activated. The process contains the Change Tier of Eligible Members Based on Qualifying Point Balance rule. The rule consists of conditions and actions that get the details of the member’s current tier and current qualifying point balance. Next, the rule checks whether the member’s current qualifying point balance is eligible for a tier higher than their current tier. If the member is eligible for a higher tier and their tier expiration date isn’t in the past, the rule upgrades the member’s tier. If the member’s tier expiration date is in the past, the rule moves the member to the tier that they’re eligible for based on their current qualifying point balance.
After the process is generated, you can’t edit or delete it from the loyalty program process record. You can delete the process from the Manage tier eligibility window. To change the eligible point balance for a tier, edit the value on the Manage tier eligibility window and regenerate the process. To help you identify the process for each tier group, the process name consists of the name of the tier group that the process belongs to. You won’t be able to deactivate the process if the name of process is more than 50 characters.
The generated process can be run in real time as a child process of a TransactionJournal type process.
To run the process in batches, set up a Batch Management job. In the batch job, filter members eligible for tier upgrade by checking whether the Eligible for Tier Assessment checkbox is selected in the member’s Loyalty Program Member record. In the batch job, use the Tier Expiration Date field from the Loyalty Member Tier object to find members whose tier expiration date is in the past. The batch job reassess and move members whose tier expiration date is in the past, to a tier that they’re eligible for based on their current point balance.
