To update the qualifying points balance of members in real time, turn on the real-time balance update setting in your Salesforce org.

Before you enable the setting to update members' qualifying points balance in real time, run the Credit Qualifying Points to Members Data Processing Engine definition. This ensures that the members' points balance is updated for all the transactions processed until the current date.
Member points balance is updated in real time only for Accrual-type transaction journals. When you turn on this setting, you don't have to use the Credit Qualifying Points to Member Data Processing Engine definition in a flow to update points balance. When you make either a Credit-type points adjustment for members or for transaction journals, points are automatically credited to the associated members' points balance.
The setting checks the Next Reset Date field on the member’s related loyalty member currency before crediting points to the member for a qualifying currency. If the member’s next reset date is in the past, the setting resets the member’s points balance for the currency to zero and then credits points to the member.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Loyalty Management, and then select Loyalty Management Settings.
- Turn on Update qualifying point balance of loyalty program members in real time.
After you enable this setting, create loyalty program processes or flows to process Transaction Journal records and use the Credit Points action to credit qualifying points in real time.
