# Clone Promotions

Loyalty program managers can clone their seasonal or repetitive promotions. Instead of creating a promotion from scratch, loyalty program managers can clone a similar promotion, edit the cloned promotion if necessary, and activate the new promotion. Loyalty program managers can clone promotions that are created either using the standard Promotion page layout or using the Quick Promotion guided flow.

## Clone the Promotions Created from the Standard Page Layout

When you clone a promotion that's created using the standard Promotion page layout, you can choose which promotion-related records to clone.

Here are a few options to consider when you clone a promotion:

<table class="slds-table slds-table_bordered slds-max-medium-table_stacked slds-m-bottom_small ">
          <colgroup>
            <col style="width:50%">
            <col style="width:50%">
          </colgroup>
          <thead class="slds-text-title_caps ">
            <tr class="">
              <th scope="col" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" id="d8392e124">Option</th>
              <th scope="col" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" id="d8392e126">What It Means</th>
            </tr>
          </thead>
          <tbody>
            <tr class="">
              <td data-label="Option" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d8392e124 ">Clone the promotion's market segment</td>
              <td data-label="What It Means" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d8392e126 ">
                <p>The new promotion targets the same set of customers as the cloned promotion.</p>
                <p>A new
                  Promotion Market Segment record is automatically created for the new promotion.
                  This record associates the new promotion with the same segment as the cloned
                  promotion.</p>
                <p style="margin-bottom:0;">This option is available only in orgs where Data Cloud is
                  enabled.</p>
              </td>
            </tr>
            <tr class="">
              <td data-label="Option" class="slds-cell-wrap" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d8392e124 ">Create engagement attributes for the promotion</td>
              <td data-label="What It Means" class="slds-cell-wrap" rowspan="2" style="vertical-align:top;" headers="d8392e126 ">
                <p>Members' progress in achieving the targets of the new promotion is
                  tracked using engagement attributes.</p>
                <p>You can either create engagement attributes for the
                  new promotion or use the same engagement attributes for the cloned promotion and the new
                  promotion.</p>
                <p>If you choose to create engagement attributes, then new Loyalty Program
                  Engagement Attribute records are created in the Draft status to track the member progress
                  for the promotion. After you activate the new promotion, activate the promotion's
                  engagement attributes as well. Also, new Loyalty Program Engagement Attribute Promotion
                  records are created to associate the promotion with the engagement attributes.</p>
                <p>If
                  you choose to reuse engagement attributes that belong to the cloned promotion, then new
                  Loyalty Program Engagement Attribute Promotion records are created to associate the new
                  promotion with the engagement attributes.</p>
                <p style="margin-bottom:0;">If you use the same engagement attribute
                  for two promotions, the engagement attributes track members' progress for both promotions.
                  You can reuse engagement attributes when the cloned promotion and the new promotion are
                  run during different periods. If period during which the cloned promotion and the new
                  promotion are active overlap, decide whether to use the same engagement attributes for
                  both promotion or to create separate engagement attributes for the new
                  promotion.</p>

                <p style="margin-bottom:0;">New Loyalty Program Partner Promotion records are automatically

1. From the loyalty program that contains the promotion you want to clone, open the promotion.
2. Click **Deep Clone**.
3. Update the name and duration of the new promotion if necessary.
4. Select the related records that you want to clone from the promotion.
5. Click **Clone**.
6. Activate the promotion.

A new promotion is created and the selected records are also cloned and related to the new promotion. To help you easily identify the names of the cloned rules and engagement attributes, the new rules and engagement attribute names contain the name and ID of the promotion that you cloned. You can update the names based on your requirements. The loyalty process rules that are created for the new promotion are automatically activated when the promotion is activated.

If you've created engagement attributes for the new promotion and not reused the engagement attributes of the cloned promotion, activate the new engagement attributes.
