# Update Member's Progress Toward Attaining a Cumulative Promotion

Members who achieve a specific target can avail a cumulative promotion. Members can achieve the target across multiple transactions. Use the Update Progress For Cumulative Promotion Usage action to update a member’s progress toward attaining a cumulative promotion.

### Required Editions

After you run the action, Cumulative Usage Completed and Cumulative Usage Complete Percentage fields of the member’s Loyalty Program Member Promotion record automatically update. If the action processes the member's first usage toward attaining the promotion, a new Loyalty Program Member Promotion record is created and associated with the member. The value of the Cumulative Usage Completed field is updated using the formula: current value of field + value member added by usage.

1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Flows, and then select **Flows**.
2. Click **New Flow**.
3. Select a flow type, and then click **Next**.
4. Select a layout.
5. Click +.
6. Select **Action**.
7. From the Category section, select **Loyalty**.
8. Search and select the **Update Progress For Cumulative Promotion Usage** action.
9. Enter a name and an API name for the action.
10. Enter these details:

                    completed two units toward the cumulative usage for a promotion, enter
                    <kbd>2</kbd>.

11. Click **Done**.
12. Save your changes, and then activate the flow.

The action updates the fields of the relevant Loyalty Program Member Promotion record and also provides these outputs:

 
| Output | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Cumulative Usage Target | Target value to attain the promotion. |
| Updated Cumulative Usage Completed | Value member has achieved so far. The formula is: previously achieved value + increment in value specified in the input. |

Example A member has to achieve a target of purchasing 10 products to attain a promotion. The member purchases 2 items. In the Usage Increment for Cumulative Promotion input parameter, enter 2. The action shows 2 as the value of the Updated Cumulative Usage Completed output parameter. In the member's next transaction, the member purchases 4 items. Now enter 4 as the value of the Usage Increment for Cumulative Promotion input parameter. The action shows 6 (2+4) as the value of the Updated Cumulative Usage Completed output parameter.
