# Prerequisites for Managing Member Transactions

You must complete certain prerequisites before you set up processes that involve managing points and transactions.

### Required Editions

## Journal Types

Before you set up processes that involve crediting points, debiting points, and canceling transactions, make sure that these journal type records are available in the org.

- Accrual
- Accrual Reversal
- Manual Points Adjustment
- Points Expiration
- Qualifying Points Reset
- Redemption
- Redemption Reversal

## Journal Reason Types

Make sure that these journal reason type values are available for one or more picklist values in the Journal Reason field on the Transaction Journal object.

 
| JOURNAL REASON TYPE | BUSINESS REQUIREMENT |
| --- | --- |
| RedemptionReversal | Used in transactions that credit points back to members for canceled redemptions. |
| AccrualReversal | Used in transactions that debit points from members' point balance for canceled accruals. |
| ManualPointsAdjustment | Used in transactions that credit points to or debit points from members for points adjustments. |

If the journal reason types aren't available in the org, admins can't configure automated processes that cancel transactions or adjust member points. The journal reason types also enable sales reps to manage member requests related to transaction cancellations and points adjustments.
