# Impact of Asynchronous Point Tracing on Loyalty Processes

Based on the data volume and currency-type, turn on asynchronous point tracing. When you turn on asynchronous tracing, pending traceability records are created in real time and processed asynchronously. Review how pending traceability records affect various processes, such as point expiration, redemptions, and transfers.

### Required Editions

- Point Expiration: These Data Processing Engine jobs don’t expire points for member currencies that have pending traceability records.
    - Expire Fixed Non-Qualifying Points Using Aggregation Ledgers and Traceable Ledgers
    - Expire Activity Non-Qualifying Points with Traceability Loyalty Ledgers
    - Expire Non-Qualifying Points Based on Activity and Grace Period
- Redemption Block: If pending traceability records exist and their credit ledgers are due to expire between the last expiration run and the current date, members can’t perform redemption transactions. To resolve this block, run the background jobs to map traceable points and process point expiration.
- Member Merging: You can’t merge members when the source member has pending traceability records.
- Redemption Cancellations: The system blocks redemption cancellations for any debit ledgers with associated pending traceability records. See [Transfer Member Points to Other Members](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.loyalty_transfer_points_to_other_members.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "To ensure effective use of member points, members can transfer their redeemable points to other members of the loyalty program or to a group they are associated with. Service representatives can help transfer by using the Transfer Points action in a new or existing flow.").
- Manual Group Transfers: Manual group point transfers are unavailable for members with pending traceability records for that currency.
- Member-to-Member Transfers: When you run the Transfer Points invocable action, the source member's points are debited in real-time. However, the target member is credited only when the system fully processes the source member’s traceability records. To process the pending traceability records, run the Map Traceable Points for Redemption Transactions invocable action for the source member.
- Process Rules: If pending traceability records exists for a member, the system processes only the debit transactions that trigger process rules that have the Any currency subtype selected in the debit sequence. If a debit transaction triggers process rules that don’t have the Any currency subtype selected, the transaction fails.
