# Salesforce Add-On for Gmail Overview

Use the Salesforce add-on for Gmail to work with Salesforce records without leaving Gmail. From the side panel, view and edit tasks, events, and other key records, and manage who's invited to use the add-on.

## Connect the Salesforce Add-On for Gmail

Work with your Google Workspace admin to support the [add-on](https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/salesforce_beta/387029289581) installation for your domain. To install the add-on and connect your Salesforce org, sign in and wait for the confirmation.

- If you are the first user to configure the add-on in your domain, click **Sign up for Salesforce**. After working with the Google Workspace admin to install the add-on, this triggers the creation of a Free Suite org. You become the first admin user of your domain’s org.
- If you are a user invited to an already created org, click **Connect to Salesforce**.

Refer to [Invite and Manage Users for the Salesforce Add-On for Gmail](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=xcloud.google_workspace_gmail_manage_users.htm&release=264.0.0&type=5 "Invite users to Salesforce and the Salesforce add-on for Gmail. Before users can access the add-on, the add-on admin must coordinate with the Google Workspace admin to ensure the add-on is installed. Once installed, the add-on admin invites users of the same domain by entering their email addresses, and invited users receive an email to accept the invitation.") for more information about inviting users to access the add-on.

## View and Manage Records

The add-on shows you any record that you have access to and that matches any data found in your email. The add-on shows two kinds of record lists: records on the home page and each individual object’s related list.

**Records on the Home Page:** Several different record types appear on the home screen.

- Today’s Google Calendar Event: A calendar view of the day’s events based on your Google Calendar.
- Today’s Salesforce Task: Each day’s open Salesforce tasks appear in order of Priority and if no Priority is listed, then the tasks are sorted by Created Date.
- Recently Viewed Object Sections: Each object list shows the three most recently opened records, whether they were viewed from a browser in Salesforce or from the add-on.

**Individual Object Related Lists:** Each object's related list appears in each object's individual view and uses different sorting rules depending on that object.

- Accounts, contacts, opportunities, and cases: The three most recently modified related records.
- Events and tasks: The latest records by date or due date. These can be past events/tasks, or scheduled in the future.

If you modify any user information or records in the org accessed in a browser instead of in the add-on, there may be a delay before the update syncs in the add-on.

## User Statuses in the Add-On

In the **Manage Users** screen, the status assigned to a user describes the user’s relationship to the add-on and their access and usage information.

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| Invited | The user was invited but hasn’t connected to the add-on yet |
| Active | The user has connected to the add-on |
| Disconnected | The user signed out of the add-on |
| Deactivated | An admin deactivated the user |

These statuses apply to the add-on. Deactivating a user from **Manage Users** deactivates the user for both the browser and the add-on.

Before users can access the add-on, the add-on admin must coordinate with the Google Workspace admin to ensure the add-on is installed.
